WOW is an understatement for this vintage beauty. This is a German Made Straight Razor that was made for a man named Albert Bellefontaine out of Montreal-Toronto, Canada. Bellefontaine was the owner of a high end parfumerie. Bellefontaine's Parfume shop carries many different colognes, aftershaves, hair tonics, and of course high end straight razors. Some of the other noted razors that he carried were the "Bellefontaine De Luxe" & "Happy Barber". The blade has a beautiful mirror finish with no pitting and took a beautiful edge very easily. Clearly etched into the main portion of the blade is Lucky Boy and this is also set in the horn scales as a nickel inlay. I believe at one point in time the etching in the blade had some sort of enamel. This razor has been cleaned, polished, honed, sterilized, and stropped. This razor was honed on a progression of both synthetic and natural stones ranging from 1k-16k, Escher Blue Geen Natural finishing stone, stropped on linen, and lastly on Kanayama Cordovan leather. There are no chips or cracks in the blade and it still has its original scales. This razors scales are absolutely stunning and made of horn, which are in excellent condition with Lucky Boy inlaid and beautiful nickel bolsters at the ends. There looks to be a small surface crack in the front side of the scales, but I believe this is a natural striation in the horn. The blade has a round nose which is perfect for beginner wet shavers and veterans alike. The pins are nice and tight and the blade centers perfectly when closing. This razor provides excellent feedback and is sure to hold its edge well and without a doubt bring countless amazing shaves. Also included is the original straight razor box that is clearly stamped Parfumerie Bellefontaine Ltee. LUCKY BOY. This razor has such a rich history and is an amazing collectors piece that is fully functional and shave ready. The box is in good condition with some wear around the edges and top and bottom. All pieces are still in tact and lid fits snug.
TRU BLU, THROUGH & THROUGH!! This is an German made Straight Razor that is obviously not seen often. This beauty was picked up in Spain by a friend from an old barber along with several other high quality straight razors. Little to no information is available about this blade, but boy oh boy did she take an edge well. The blade has a beautiful mirror finish and clearly stamped on the tang is TRU is types font and BLUE is a gorgeous script and the numbers 165. Also visible on the back side of the tang is SOLINGEN MADE IN GERMANY. This razor is in amazingly well preserved condition and obviously well made. The spine and tang of this blade has a nice thickness to it.
This razor has been cleaned, polished, honed, sterilized, and stropped. This razor was honed on a progression of both synthetic and natural stones ranging from 1k-12k, finished on the mysterious Apache Strata. There are no chips or cracks in the blade and nearly all surface imperfections have been removed. This German made razor still has its original butterscotch colored celluloid scales with beautiful nickel inlay. The scales are triple pinned and has a small black wedge at the end. The blade has a square point and is hollow ground. This razor took an edge with no problems whatsoever and easily splits arm hairs in half at the mid point on all portions of the blade and passes the hanging hair test. All three pins are well in tact, nice and tight, and the blade centers perfectly when closing. There is jimping on the bottom and top portions of the tang. Also included is the original deep maroon razor box in excellent condition. There is one small piece of tape on the bottom end, most likely from its previous owner in Spain. This stunning hollow ground razor provides great feedback and is very well balanced. If your looking for a great quality razor that is not so often seen, then look no further. Rest your eyes on the TRU BLU Solingen Made vintage straight razor.
Adoration is a name that does not need much of an introduction. Paul Giesen & Eugen Forshtoff established their company in 1920s and shortly after moved their base to Solingen, Germany. This world class company made scissors, knives, shave brushes, other hair dressing instruments, and of course straight razors. This beautiful razor is a wonderful shaver that provides an effortless baby butt shave with medium feedback. This razor has been cleaned, polished, honed, sterilized, and stropped. This razor was honed on a progression of both synthetic and natural stones ranging from 1k-12k, finished on a light green Escher stone, chromium oxide paste, stropped on leather, and lastly on linen. There are no chips or cracks in the blade and I went with a beautiful mirror finish on the blade. There was some very light pitting in the blade, which has been polished smooth leaving barely any mention of this. The pins are nice and tight and the razor closes dead center. There is a small crack near one of the pins that has been reinforced and is sturdy as can be(most easily visible in the last photo). This Adoration AOC #292 Razor still has its original Butterscotch Bakelite Scales w/ a beautiful nickel inlay depicting a Hatchet and AOC in script below. The blade took an edge very easily and is known to hold it just as well.
SLEEK, SEXY, & SHAVE READY!! This is an American Made Straight Razor produced for Simmons Hardware through Keen Kutter. Before Simmon's Keen Cutter it was E.C.Simmons, which was incorporated in 1874. This company has been in business since the early 1870s and such a rich and interesting history. Simmons started out as a distribution company that sold many different brands of hardware. Before long it started producing its own top of the line cutting tools, many of which are very prized today, especially the ones that are stamped with the Simmons HDWE & Keen Cutter Logos. By the 1880s Simmons/Keen Kutter was producing its own high end Axes, Hatches, Scythes, Hooks, Shears, Stones, RAZORS, and Knives. Simmons was one of the first companies to employ door to door salesmen to sell hardware. At one time, Keen Kutter employed 600 salesmen, often rewarded the top employees with gifts and even naming pieces of hardware after them.
The blade has a beautiful mirror finish with no rust or pitting. Still visible on the face of the blade is the Keen Kutter F Simmon etching. Clearly stamped on into the back side of the tang is SIMMONS HDWE CO. MFRS. & DISTRIBUTERS U.S.A and K451 KEENKUTTERS on the front side. This is the largest Keen Kutter razor that I have personally ran across and quite impressive in person. This razor has been cleaned, polished, honed, sterilized, and stropped. This razor was honed on a progression of both synthetic and natural stones ranging from 1k-12k, finished on a 16k Synthetic, stropped on linen, and lastly on Kanayama Cordovan leather. There are no chips or cracks in the blade and it still has its original faux tortise scales. The blade has a square point and is hollow ground. This razor took an edge with no problems whatsoever and easily splits arm hairs in half at the mid point on all portions of the blade. The pins are nice and tight and the blade centers perfectly when closing. There are no jimps on this razor, leaving the top and bottoms of this nice thick blade perfectly smooth. This wide hollow ground razor provides very nice feedback and is sure to hold its edge well and without a doubt bring countless amazing shaves.
Sexy, Sharp, & Shave Ready! JA Henckels is a very well known brand and highly prized. This razor has been cleaned, polished, honed, sterilized, & stropped. JA Henckels is also known as Zwilling, which means Twin. Hence the name TwinWorks, which is clearly stamped on the tang of the razor. Henckles was patented in 1731, making this one of the oldest patented companies in the world. They are highly regarded for the quality knives, razors, and other hair products mostly produced in Solingen, Germany. This razor was honed on a progression of both synthetic and natural stones ranging from 1k-12k, Escher Light Green, chromium oxide paste, stropped on linen, and lastly on Kanayama Leather. There are no chips or cracks in the blade and it has a beautiful mirror finish. Clearly stamped on the tang of the razor is JA HENCKELS TWINWORKS SOLINGEN, GERMANY #50, and the world famous Twin Logo. This particular razor features a 6/8 Half Hollow Ground Square Point Blade. This razor has been polished to a mirror shine and lightly oiled after stropping with a thin coat of TufGlide to preserve the blade until it is put to use. There was virtually no pitting to the blade and the original light grind marks can still be seen at an angle. There is no hone wear on the spine of this razor and it took an edge very easily. This razor still has its original black acrylic scales that are in excellent condition with no cracks. The scales are triple pinned with a gorgeous white wedge and white spacer at the middle pin. The center of balance is very good on this razor. This is a hefty blade that is nearly a quarter inch thick at the top of the spine with gorgeous jimping on the bottom side. This stunning razor shaves like a charm with great feedback. I little extra caution is warranted when stropping razors with hefty blades.
Also included with this beautiful razor is its original box. The box has some minor denting, but is still completely in tact. Although the JA Henckels lettering and logo can still be seen on the front side of the box, it is worn. The razor fits snugly inside and the lid does as well. The box is made of cardboard and looks to have a black mesh protective layer. Do not miss out on this amazing piece of fully functional shaving history.
